The Department of Chemistry, Mehsana Urban Institute of Sciences, Ganpat University organized a “International Webinar on Artificial intelligence driven Bioinformatics: Precision medicine, Clinical diagnosis and prognosis” on 18th Jan 2021. Benzofurans and Total Synthesis of Anticancer Natural products - Propolisbenzofuran B & (-)- Pavidolide B. Benzofuran constitutes the structure core of several biological active natural products and pharmaceutical drugs such as Amiodarone, Benzbromarone, Dronedarone, and Budiodarone. These drugs have severe side effects and especially Benzbromarone was withdrawn from the market following its adverse side effects. Guanine rich DNA sequences have the propensity to adopt four strand tetrahelical G-quadruplex (G4) structures in presence of monovalent cations like Na+, K+. G4 DNA structures are linked to fundamental biological processes and diseases. Computational studies have suggested ~376000 putative G4 forming sequences existing in the human genome.
