Description

The Ganpat University – Institute of Computer Technology (GUNI–ICT) organized an expert session on “Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture for Optimal Soil Sampling and Fertilizer Recommendation” on 1st January 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The session was organized with the objective of enhancing awareness about the role of Artificial Intelligence in modern agriculture and promoting data-driven and sustainable farming practices among students and faculty members.

The expert session was efficiently inaugurated by Dr. Rohit Patel, Principal, GUNI-ICT and coordinated by Dr. Lokesh Budhia and Prof. Umesh Lakhtariya, whose efforts ensured smooth planning and successful execution of the event.

Dr. Vishvjit Thakar is a distinguished academician and researcher with extensive expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and their real-world applications in agriculture and engineering domains.

He has published several research papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences and has authored three books. Dr. Thakar has supervised numerous Ph.D. scholars, established international research collaborations, and is actively involved in teaching core engineering subjects.

Expert Session Highlights:

  • The expert session provided in-depth insights into the application of Artificial Intelligence in the agricultural domain.
  • Dr. Vishvjit explained the significance of AI-driven approaches for optimal soil sampling to improve soil health assessment and crop productivity.
  • The session highlighted the use of Machine Learning algorithms, sensor-based data collection, and data analytics for accurate fertilizer recommendation systems.
  • Real-world case studies and practical examples were shared to demonstrate how AI helps in reducing fertilizer wastage and promoting sustainable farming practices.
  • The speaker emphasized the role of predictive analytics and decision support systems in precision agriculture.
  • Participants gained exposure to interdisciplinary research opportunities at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and agriculture.
  • The interactive discussion encouraged students to explore innovative AI-based solutions for real-life agricultural challenges.

Key Outcomes:

  1. Participants gained a clear understanding of the application of Artificial Intelligence in the agricultural sector.
  2. The session enhanced knowledge about optimal soil sampling techniques using AI and data analytics.
  3. Students and faculty learned how AI-based fertilizer recommendation systems can improve crop productivity and soil health.
  4. The session created awareness about precision agriculture and sustainable farming practices.
  5. Participants were motivated to explore interdisciplinary research opportunities in Artificial Intelligence and agriculture.
  6. The expert interaction helped bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world agricultural applications.

The expert session proved to be highly informative and outcome-oriented, effectively emphasizing the relevance of Artificial Intelligence in agriculture and its role in promoting sustainable and technology-driven farming practices. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sheetal Pandya, who formally acknowledged and expressed gratitude to the eminent speaker, university authorities, organizing committee members, faculty, and students for their valuable support and active participation, contributing to the successful conduct of the session.
